Following is a list of our most frequently asked questions about our International Mission Adventures. If you have a question and do not find the answer here, please contact us.
Why should I do my international mission trip with YWAM Las Vegas?
Our experience: Nobody has more experience in this type of ministry than YWAM.
Our costs: In a recent survey, we found that our program offered the highest level of service while our prices are among the lowest.
Our training: We give your students all they need for dynamic ministry during your trip, and the ability to “take it all home.”
What will we do?
No matter where you go your team will be serving in existing ministries alongside local believers or missionaries. These contacts are well qualified to guide us in ministry. Some of these will be with YWAM directly and others will be local pastors or missionaries form other organizations. We also want to make sure that those who come to Christ will have a place to be discipled once we return home.
Each outreach will be unique, yet there will be several ministries they all have in common. Some of these ministries include prayer walks, sharing with believers in churches, serving the poor, working with children, and personal evangelism. We believe God is already preparing the ministries in which your team, will be involved.
For more detailed descriptions of the ministry opportunities please see the specific outreach location descriptions.
Where will we live?
Housing will be simple, yet adequate and will vary according to outreach location. You may stay at a local YWAM base, or a rented building that offers places to cook, shower and sleep. Showers will most likely be cold and bathroom facilities will be… different. However, we are not going as tourists, but rather as ministers of the gospel who do not want to present any barriers between them and reaching the local culture.
What will we eat?
All meals are included in your outreach fee. Mission Adventures’ host staff will carefully choose the places your team will eat. We will avoid places with poor sanitary standards. If immunizations are necessary to further protect your health, then you will be required to receive the necessary vaccinations before leaving the US. Mealtimes in all cultures are a central means of spending time with people and therefore are a special part of your mission experience.
Is there a risk?
Although we don’t often think about this, there is a great risk in even living in the United States. In the same way, as with any journey overseas, there will always be some risk involved. Your local medical provider will be thousands of miles away, but we need not walk in fear. Rather, we need to trust in the Lord that He will protect us as we are obedient to his command to “go into all the world.” Proverbs 1:33 says “Whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”
Questions, questions, questions. Obviously, there are a lot more questions you may have, and we want to give answers to them. For full information please ask for the Mission Adventures registration manual, or click here to apply online.
