Volunteer

YWAM Vegas is continually looking for partners in our various ministries.

ESL (English as a Second Language)

The English as a Second Language program is a great opportunity for volunteers to get involved with the community in a practical way. Las Vegas has a large population of people struggling to speak English, and our classes offer a relaxed, relational environment in which to learn. We have classes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6-8pm. If you are interested in volunteering as a teacher, please call (702) 658-5450 and ask for Andrea or Martin.

Substituting for English as a Second Language

Same as ESL. We will provide the training in teaching English. After the training, you will be placed on an “on call” list for when we are in need of a substitute teacher for our English as a Second Language (ESL) class.

Las Vegas Rescue Mission Services

One hour services happen every second Sunday of the month. Participation in a chapel service over at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Sharing testimonies and devotional (possibly give opportunities for prayer at the end).

Musicians for Las Vegas Rescue Mission Services

Happens every second Sunday of the month. Participation in leading worship for the one hour Las Vegas Rescue Mission chapel services the second Sunday of every month.

YWAM Building Maintenance or Odd Jobs

Assisting in the beautification and upkeep of the YWAM building.

Handing out informational fliers in the neighborhood

Assisting us by promoting our programs in the 89106 neighborhood by going door to door to help us cover parts of our neighborhood that we have not yet reached.

Tutoring with After School Education Programs

The children are the future of our neighborhood. Therefore, we want to be able to help them succeed in life through helping with homework and provide a safe environment to come to after school. (Background checks and other protocol may be required.)

Truck outreaches with Dream Center (For pre-arranged groups)

Part of reaching community is supporting the local church. We get to do that and reach kids in our 89106 area by partnering with the Dream Center in going out in their performance bus and putting on services for children in housing editions in the 89106 area.

Neighborhood Prayer Walk

Having our YWAM base in the inner-city we find it very important not only to bless the neighborhood through serving our community and the ministries around us, but to seek the Lord through prayer and speaking life and truth over the land of the area we live in, the area we know the Lord wants to impact. Taking part in Prayer Walks with YWAM staff gives you the opportunity to bless the neighborhood while walking on the very ground you’re praying for.

Neighborhood Evangelism

Reaching out to the 89106 neighborhood with God’s love through door to door to share the Gospel.

Neighborhood Trash Pickup

Beautification of the 89106 neighborhood.

Cooking Meals

With various ministry programs operating such as Mission Adventures and Discipleship Training School, we can always use help in our kitchen making meals for our students as our group sizes come in various groups.

Homeless outreaches

Serving, ministering, and enjoying fellowship through meals for the homeless community. We partner w/ churches every Tuesday for breakfast at Ethel Pierson Park (D Street and Washington) from 7:45 AM – 9:00 AM as well as on Thursdays for dinner at the Dream Center of Las Vegas (911 G Street) from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM.

Kids Crafts or Kids Programs (For pre-arranged groups)

An effective way to reach kids in our neighborhood is through the arts. YWAM Vegas does not have the resources to run a full time arts and crafts program, but we intend to make a place where outside groups can run a program from our facility at any time.

Spanish Speakers (For various programs)

Often times during ESL, neighborhood or Friday night evangelism, and other programs we come across language barriers into the Hispanic community. By signing up as a Spanish speaker, you will be on an “on call” list for our various programs to see if you’re available to assist us in translation to overcome those barriers.

Spring break mission adventures staff

We have dozens of youth groups come through with various churches nationwide. By volunteering as spring break Mission Adventures staff, you will have the opportunity to mentor students and help facilitate outreaches on the city.

Friday night evangelism (For pre-arranged groups)

Going out into the City of Las Vegas to share God’s love through various methods of evangelism such as free prayer, belief surveys, crosswalk, 2x2’s, and other outreaches.
